Ramón Ribas Rius studied in Barcelona, in the School of La Lonja. In 1919 he began his exhibition activity, both individually and participating in group exhibitions, and in 1922 he was awarded the Masriera medal of landscape, granted by the Academy of Sant Jordi. He competed in various artistic competitions, being awarded the silver medal at the Salón de Otoño de Palma de Mallorca (1943), the silver medal at the Salón de Otoño de Madrid (1945) and the first medal and the Duque de Alba prize at the Salón de Otoño de Madrid (1952). He lived in Madrid and Mallorca, places where he exhibited regularly, as well as in Barcelona. He is known for his ballet themes, although he also dealt with many others, always painted quickly, outdoors. He has works in the City Hall of Barcelona, in the MACBA and in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Madrid.
