WILL FABER (Saarbrücken, Germany, 1901 - Barcelona, 1987).
Untitled.
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 46 x 61 cm; 77 x 92,5 cm (frame).
In the context of Faber's career, this painting exemplifies his decisive contribution to the renewal of abstract language in post-war Barcelona, where he was a key figure in the dialogue between European abstraction and the local art scene. Overall, it is a representative work of his research on the energy of color and the construction of pictorial space, fully consistent with his most recognized production.
Faber was one of the pillars of the Barcelona renovation of the fifties together with the "Dau al Set" group, since his aesthetic, cultural and technical knowledge forged in Berlin and Munich made him a reference in the Catalan artistic environment of the time. He participated in the Hispano-American Biennials of Havana and Barcelona, as well as the Venice Biennial. He was awarded the Gold Medal of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, the Estrada Saladich International Painting Biennial and the City of Barcelona. He is represented at the MACBA in Barcelona, the Es Baluard Museum in Palma de Mallorca, the Patio Herreriano in Valladolid and the Museum of Modern Art in Saint-Etienne in France, among others.
