From the stylistic point of view, the piece reveals echoes of Fauvism in the bold and contrasting use of color, applied with loose brushstrokes and vibrant surfaces that prioritize the visual impact on the academic modeling. It can also be related to certain post-impressionist figuration and neo-expressionist currents that, already late in the century, claimed the chromatic intensity and formal simplification against the dominant abstraction.
The composition combines a hieratic and central figure with a dynamic background of beach and sea resolved by means of color planes and simplified perspectives. The result is an image of strong visual appeal, where modernity lies not in the radical rupture, but in the free and decorative reinterpretation of the figurative tradition within the French artistic context of the twentieth century.
