DESCRIPTION
French school; 20th century.
Untitled.
Oil on canvas.
It has slight puncture in the upper left corner and slight flaws in the frame.
Measurements: 65 x 55 cm; 84 x 73 cm (frame).
The figure appears represented of half body, frontally, with the arms supported and the hands softly crossed, in a calm attitude that transmits balance and recollection. Her direct gaze, directed towards the viewer, establishes an immediate link that gives the portrait a silent but firm presence. The face is the central axis of the composition. The artist softly models the features with delicate transitions of light and color, giving the face a serene and luminous appearance. The slightly rosy cheeks, the discreetly defined lips and the restrained expression contribute to build an image of calm and naturalness. The dark hair, arranged in soft waves and adorned with a light ribbon, introduces an ornamental element that brings delicacy and chromatic balance to the composition.
The work reflects the influence of the European portrait tradition, but reinterpreted with a 20th century sensibility. The composition is clear and balanced, while the treatment of the color and the pictorial surface reveals a visible and slightly free brushstroke that moves away from an excessively academic finish.
