From the stylistic point of view, the painting presents traits linked to the post-impressionist heritage, perceptible both in the treatment of the brushstroke and in the chromatic organization of the surface. The brushwork is characterized by a visible brushstroke, of relatively free application, which avoids a polished finish in favor of a vibrant pictorial texture. This procedure gives the image a material vitality that refers to the tradition inaugurated by the French post-impressionist painters, who privileged the autonomy of color and the energy of execution over strictly descriptive naturalism. The composition is organized around the central presence of the vase, conceived as the structural axis of the painting. The volumetry of the object is defined by chromatic modulations rather than by academic modeling, which reinforces the pictorial dimension of the whole. Color plays a fundamental role in the articulation of the pictorial space. The chromatic range, based on hallmarks between warm and cold tones, responds to an expressive rather than descriptive logic.
In thematic terms, the work dialogues with a long tradition of French modern art that reinterpreted the still life as a space for formal exploration.
