The brushstroke, controlled and precise, models the volumes with softness, avoiding excessive hallmarks and betting for a delicate transition between lights and shadows. The chromatic range, dominated by earth and muted tones, underlines the sober character of the image, in which any superfluous detail has been eliminated in favor of an essential representation. The composition is clearly articulated: the neutral, ochre-toned background, which darkens progressively towards the edges, envelops the figure and helps to isolate it, concentrating attention on its presence. This tonal gradation not only adds depth, but also reinforces the intimate and silent atmosphere of the portrait.
This aesthetic is reminiscent of the late academic tradition, where the balance between naturalism and emotional restraint is essential. In this sense, the work is situated in the wake of the great Italian portrait tradition of the 19th century.
