Eduardo Sanz Fraile studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando, beginning very early to exhibit his work. In his career we can clearly distinguish his phases of informalist abstraction (1958-1962), abandoned; one of expressionist figuration and a brief postcubist, followed by a dedication to the study of engraving; from 1962 we must highlight his "Participaciones" (broken glass-mirror paintings, which incorporates various elements), which would be followed by his series "Ventanas" and "Vías o carreteras" (Roads or highways). Between 1962 and 1969 his works would be characterized by showing superimpositions of planes and their three-dimensionality; he would also develop the series of multiples. In 1970 his "Capillas-relicarios" (Chapels-reliquaries) stand out. Between 1972 and 1974: themes of carpets, vitolas and sculptures with crystallographic forms. Since 1975, his "Letters of love" are important; this is followed by scale ships between 1978 and 1980, operating an important change in his art in 1979, when he began to paint and catalog the lighthouses of Spain. His work has been exhibited in Santander, Madrid, the XXXIII Venice Biennial, Santillana del Mar, Paraguay, Belgium, etc., and is preserved both in private collections and in prominent institutions (Albertina Museum in Austria, Museum of Contemporary Art of Asucion in Paraguay, Museum of Contemporary Art of Ostend in Belgium, Museo della Stampa in Milan (Italy), Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Madrid, etc.).
