DESCRIPTION
CARLES NADAL FARRERAS (Paris, 1917 - Sitges, Barcelona, 1998).
"Aux courses".
Waxes and acrylic on paper adhered to canvas.
Attached certificate of authenticity issued by Alejandro Nadal, son of the artist.
With Atelier stamp on the back.
Measurements: 27 x 41 cm.
In this work, Nadal builds a lively scene of playful character, where architecture and figures are integrated in an open and vibrant space. The composition, of free and simplified stroke, responds to an almost naïf vision of reality, in which color -applied with intensity and in bright shades- becomes the main expressive vehicle. The whole conveys a festive and vitalistic atmosphere, characteristic of his painting.
Son of a painter and trained in Barcelona, Nadal developed his career between Spain, Paris and Belgium, where he consolidated his colorist language. Influenced by Fauvism -especially by Dufy-, his work is characterized by the exaltation of color and a free figuration. He exhibited internationally and his work is present in collections such as MACBA and museums in Brussels and Belgium.
