The work in tender responds to the French academic taste of the XIX century, with a clear idealization of the feminine figure, a refined finish and a pleasant and sentimental subject, besides showing the influence of the rococo of the XVIII century (the young woman is a gallant young woman that approaches some cherries to a graceful and light white dove), typical characteristics of French painters like Bouguereau or Émile Munier and far from the social realism as well as from the impressionist innovations. Formally, the softness of the modeling and a looser brushstroke in the background stand out against the detail of the face and hands.
