Work of small format but great plastic intensity, in which Josep Guinovart combines matter, color and figurative suggestion. The composition is articulated around an organic form of orange and ochre tones, which seems to emerge from a clear background, between the appearance and the trace. The intervention of the wood reinforces the material character of the piece, very similar to the artist's language.

Guinovart developed a deeply personal work, linked to informalism, experimentation with materials and a poetics of the earth, memory and the object. In this piece, the intensity of the orange, the textures and the areas of transparency construct an image of great sensorial charge, where matter is not a mere support, but an essential part of the meaning.

Josep Guinovart was one of the key figures of Catalan art in the second half of the 20th century. Co-founder of the Dau al Set group in his generational environment and close to the informalist renovations, he explored painting, collage, assemblage, scenography and graphic work. His work is represented in institutions such as the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, the MACBA, the Reina Sofia Museum and the Espai Guinovart in Agramunt.
