BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

WILL FABER ZIETZ (Saarbrücken, Germany, 1901 - Barcelona, 1987).
"Composition", 1974.
Mixed media on paper.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 32 x 56,5 cm; 50 x 74 cm (frame).

Faber develops here a language close to lyrical abstraction, based on the trace, the chromatic balance and the presence of the graphic sign. The surface appears worked as a field of sedimentations, where circular forms, lines and incisions suggest an open composition, between the constructive and the gestural.

Painter, engraver, illustrator and graphic designer, Will Faber was trained in Germany and settled in Barcelona in 1932, actively joining the Catalan artistic environment. His work assimilates influences from German expressionism, Kandinsky, Der Blaue Reiter, cubism, fauvism and dadaism, developing a very personal voice within the European avant-garde. He is represented in institutions such as the Museo Patio Herreriano in Valladolid, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, Can Prunera Museu Modernista, the Colección de Arte Contemporáneo, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo in Madrid.
