Frances Tipton Hunter (1896-1957) was a recognized American illustrator, famous for the covers that she made for The Saturday Evening Post and other publications between the decades of 1920 and 1950. Her style, close to that of Norman Rockwell, was characterized by tender and optimistic scenes featuring children and pets.
From an early age she showed a talent for drawing and studied illustration in Philadelphia, training at institutions such as the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She began her career doing illustrations of children's fashion for catalogs and advertising.
Hunter achieved great popularity thanks to her watercolors of everyday and family themes, becoming one of the most successful calendar illustrators of the forties and fifties. Her images, full of sensitivity and humor, offered a warm and comforting view of American life after World War II.
In addition to contributing to magazines, he created popular illustrated series such as Sandy in Trouble, devoted to the adventures of a boy and his dog. He also published children's books and was a member of the Society of Illustrators.
