Work of marked modern sensibility that focuses all its expressive force in the representation of a female figure of naked bust, located frontally in front of the spectator. The face, barely turned to the right and with her gaze directed out of the painting, introduces a sensation of psychological distance and introspection that gives emotional depth to the scene. The female figure, with short hair and serene attitude, also reflects certain ideals of modernity associated with 20th century women.
The painting evidences a clear heritage of European expressionism, especially in the free and subjective treatment of color. Far from seeking an academic or idealized representation, the artist uses intense tones and chromatic hallmarks to build volume and convey moods.
