Oil on canvas.

José Morea has participated in all artistic movements, ranging from Pop Art, abstraction, and Symbolism, until he achieved a mature artistic language characterized by gestural painting with distinctive and brilliant colors. He began to stand out in the 1970s, and in the early 1980s he received grants from the Ministry of Culture (1980 and 1984) and the City of Valencia (1981). He made his solo debut in 1975 with an exhibition held at the Official College of Architects in Valencia and Murcia. In the following years, he continued to hold solo exhibitions at prominent venues throughout Spain, such as the Juana de Aizpuru in Seville, the René Métras in Barcelona, and the Sen in Madrid. In 1986, he made the leap to the international stage and exhibited his work in Italy; since then, he has continued to exhibit in Italy as well as in Hong Kong, Portugal, and South America, while also participating in group exhibitions worldwide. Currently, José Morea is represented in the Museum of Fine Arts and the IVAM in Valencia, the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, the museums of contemporary art in Barcelona, Recife (Brazil), and Bagheria (Italy), the Salvador Allende Museum in Santiago, Chile, the Atlantic Center of Modern Art in Las Palmas, the Pinacoteca do Estado in São Paulo, collections such as AENA, the Casa de Velázquez, and the Argentaria, and foundations such as Telefónica, Coca-Cola, and La Caixa de Pensions, among other public and private institutions.
