DESCRIPTION
VICENTE PERIS CARBONELL (Valencia, 1957)
"Church of Frontignan." 1990.
Oil on canvas.
Signed.
Measurements: 60 x 50 cm; 80 x 68 cm (frame)
A painter and sculptor whose artistic vision leans toward universal expressionism. He trained at the School of Arts and Crafts in Valencia and was also admitted to the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in his hometown.
His early work shows an academic influence that moves away from the narrative, shifting toward the use of collage in his portraits to enhance the expressiveness and personality of the subject.
His style gradually acquired greater luminosity and purity, making way for graphic symbolism and graphic elements in his images.
In 1985, Carbonell held his first exhibition, and the following year, he traveled to various countries—including France, Italy, and Egypt—to continue developing his personal artistic language; Paris and Egypt were the places that left the greatest impression on him.
Peris Carbonell has been a natural-born artist, producing works destined for foreign collections, although the most significant portion of his body of work is housed at the Peris Carbonell Museum, which opened in 2012 in Palma de Mallorca and features works created since 1999. His work is also represented in the aforementioned museum, as well as at the Franciscan Museum in Rome, the Luis Amigó Museum in Godella, the Provincial House of the Capuchin Tertiaries, and the Archbishop’s Palace in Valencia.
