The work depicts a traditional scene of agricultural labor. In the foreground is a sun-drenched field or threshing floor where several farmers are working the land with traditional tools, with a cluster of red-roofed farmhouses behind them and the silhouette of a monumental village in the background, nestled among the mountains.
It falls within the framework of Post-Impressionism and Spanish figurative Expressionism. It stands out for its use of very bold, thick, and vibrant brushstrokes (with areas of heavy impasto), which lend the surface great dynamism and a tactile texture. The composition is bathed in a powerful summer light. The artist employs a stark chromatic contrast between the incandescent yellows and ochres of the threshing floor in the foreground, the vermilion and terracotta hues of the houses, and the deep violet and blue shadows in the mountains in the background and the sky.
