Raimondo Cardelli was born in Marseille on April 8, 1938, and lives and works in Lucca.
He began exhibiting in 1968. He has exhibited in Italy’s most important galleries and, subsequently, for several years, in Belgium, Spain, France, Denmark, the United States, and Canada. The curtain rises on a magnificent and deeply personal portrayal. It is not drama, of course, but life itself: this is Cardelli’s work, which presents to a wide audience an ancestral and deeply meaningful theme—the ancestor, the mother, the daughter; in short, the passage of generations that leave their mark on the places where they were born, grew up, and lived.
This natural world, enriched by the human touch, flourishes and bursts forth in all its splendor, sharing with future generations the immense wealth bequeathed by our ancestors. It is a spectacle that captivates the viewer, one that can make them dream, move them, and inspire them.
In her works, brimming with color and the play of light, a strong sense of life and freedom stands out, which is also reflected in the titles: “The Tree of Life,” “Fertility,” etc. The chromatic harmony, imagination, and skillful arrangement of the figures within the work as a whole make these canvases exquisite, and those magical touches of white against dark backgrounds unfold a story that seems to have no end.
