Painter and ceramicist trained at the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts in Valencia, where he studied under the landscape painter Gonzalo Salva y Simbor (Valencia, 1845–?), who influenced his technique in depicting landscapes. He specialized in narrative painting based on the romances of Aguirre and Matiol, as well as seascapes, portraits, and still lifes, all executed with a highly naturalistic technique.
At just 17 years old, Salvador Abril was already well established in the art world, participating in various exhibitions held at the Ateneo Mercantil in Valencia, as well as in exhibitions organized by the School of Fine Arts in his hometown, where he won awards in 1879, 1880, and 1910, and in the Regional Exhibition at the Jardines del Real.
His work is preserved in private collections and in institutions such as the Naval Museum in Madrid, the Provincial Council of Burgos, the City Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Valencia, as well as in the Víctor Balaguer Library and Museum in Vilanova.
