This series of greeting cards reveals a particularly intimate and personal side of Joaquim Llucià. Unlike his work intended for exhibitions, these small pieces reveal a spontaneous and accessible style, in which the artist transforms an everyday gesture into art.
A painter with a background in business, Joaquim Llucià joined the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona in 1954, and the following year he made his first trip to Paris. Three years later, he visited the exhibition “50 Years of Modern Painting” in Brussels, where he became acquainted with the Russian abstract artists, particularly Malevich, who would exert a key influence on his work. A co-founder of Cicle Art d’Avui, he exhibited frequently in Barcelona and other parts of Spain, as well as in Denmark and Sweden, and participated in group exhibitions in Italy and Great Britain.
