“Básico 27” is part of the exploration of geometry, color, and space that defines Vicente Fernández Cervera’s body of work during these years. The composition deliberately reduces the elements to large chromatic fields with precise boundaries, creating a interplay of overlaps and tensions between the intense red, the gray, and the expansive light surface. This formal refinement reflects his interest in making color and structure the true protagonists of the painting, within a line of work closely related to his “Campo Cromático” research.

Fernández Cervera has been pursuing his artistic career professionally since the early 2000s, focusing particularly on geometric abstraction and the relationships between color, form, and space. In 2008, the year this work was created, he held solo exhibitions at the Marcodearco Gallery in Madrid, the Kalon Gallery in Tudela, and the Barbarín Gallery in Madrid. His work has also been featured in events such as the Valdepeñas International Exhibition of Plastic Arts and the Focus-Abengoa Painting Prize.
