DESCRIPTION
JAVIER LOREN (Zaragoza, 1951).
“Amadeo No. 7” and “Amadeo No. 8.”
Pair of works.
Mixed media, paint and silk on wood.
Signed and titled on the reverse.
Measurements: 35 x 55 x 8 cm each.
This pair is representative of Javier Loren’s exploration of geometric abstraction. The compositions are constructed by layering planes and strips of silk, whose texture becomes part of the pictorial surface and creates varying densities and transparencies. Against an essentially geometric structure, the irregularities of the material introduce a more organic element, visible in the contrast between the central light areas and the chromatic fields surrounding them.
Javier Loren studied at the Massana School and the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona. Between 1980 and 1985, he co-founded the group Federales, dedicated to the exploration of geometric abstraction, and later developed projects related to graphic design and printing techniques. His work is included in the collections of the San Pietro in Cerro Museum of Contemporary Art and Jaume I University in Castellón, among others.
