A landscape painter and set designer, Domingo Soler began his training at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown, then continued his studies in Barcelona at the Escuela de La Lonja. A scholarship recipient from the Provincial Council in Paris between 1892 and 1893, he worked with the set designer Corpesar. He ultimately completed his artistic training in Rome. He taught at the Italian School in Barcelona and, later, at the School of Arts and Crafts. He also served as president of the Association of Watercolorists of Catalonia. He participated in various group exhibitions, and between 1913 and 1922 he organized annual solo exhibitions at the Sala Parés in Barcelona. He entered various art competitions, winning the “Barcelona Cómica” Drawing Prize, the Old Barcelona Prize, the Medal from the Exhibition of Art and Decorative Industries in Mexico, and the Gold Medal for Catalan Landscapes. A follower of Vila i Cinca, his portraits of the Catalan landscape were highly acclaimed by critics and the public alike, although he also stood out for his scenes set in the 18th century. His works are featured in the Museum of Sabadell and the Watercolor Museum of Llançà.
