DESCRIPTION
JORDI MERCADÉ FARRÉS (Barcelona, 1923–2005).
“Seaport.”

Measurements: 34.5 x 45 cm; 56 x 67 cm (frame).
Trained in Barcelona, Mercadé lived in Paris from 1948 to 1954, and upon his return, he co-founded the Taüll group. He held numerous exhibitions, both solo and group, in Barcelona, Madrid, Zaragoza, Milan, and Bern, among other cities. He spearheaded the May Salon in Barcelona and represented Spain at the São Paulo and Alexandria Biennales, as well as at the Parisian salons of the Young Painters, the National Fine Arts Salon, and the Salon des Indépendants. In the 1980s, together with Tharrats, he supported the founding of the Catalan Association of Visual Artists. His work is represented in the Reina Sofía Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, the Museum of Fine Arts in Bern, the Camón Aznar Museum in Zaragoza, and the MACBA in Barcelona, among others.
