A painter trained at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, he completed his studies in Brussels. In 1918, he joined the Barcelona-based group Nou Ambient, with which he exhibited repeatedly until 1932. He has lived in Mallorca since 1940, where he held a retrospective exhibition in 1979. His work began with an innovative style closely related to Cubism, which later evolved into a Post-Impressionist figurative style focused on Catalan and Mallorcan landscapes. He held his first solo exhibition in 1924 at the Sala Dalmau in Barcelona, where he continued to exhibit annually until 1954. He has also held exhibitions in various parts of Spain, as well as in Paris, London, Rome, and several American cities. In 1982, he was named an honorary citizen of Andraixt. His work is part of the MACBA’s collection.
