In this landscape, the painter depicts, in a style leaning toward realism, a sea of calm waves, traversed by a small boat dominated by the immense sails flanking the mast. In the background, we see the sails of other boats, set in motion by the wind in a dynamic and naturalistic manner, alongside the city wall, in front of which stands a solitary lighthouse. Formally, the artist creates a lyrical color scheme characterized by a balanced arrangement of grays, blues, and whites.
