ANITA DE CARO (New York, 1909 – Paris, 1998).
"Composition."
Collage and mixed media on panel.
Signed.
Measurements: 51 x 49 cm, 59 x 59 cm (frame).
Anita de Caro showed a keen interest in art from a young age. She studied at the Art Students League of New York and, in 1932, traveled to Europe to continue her training. In 1936, she moved to Paris, where she spent much of her artistic career and came into contact with important artists and movements of the time.
Her work began as primarily figurative but eventually evolved toward abstraction. She experimented with painting, printmaking, collage, and various materials, using shapes, colors, and textures to create her compositions. In Paris, she met the printmaker Roger Vieillard, whom she married in 1939.
Throughout her career, Anita de Caro exhibited in various venues, and some of her works are part of major collections, such as that of the Centre Pompidou. Her work reflects the evolution of 20th-century modern art and her constant search for new forms of expression.
