José Cózar Viedma is a Spanish painter who specializes primarily in landscape painting. He trained at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Valencia and is associated with the generation of Valencian landscape painters that emerged in the 1960s. His painting, rooted in the Levantine Post-Impressionist tradition, is characterized by a loose and spontaneous style, frequent use of the palette knife, and a special sensitivity to light, color, and atmospheric effects. Throughout his career, he has depicted landscapes of Valencia, Castile, Aragon, and Andalusia, and has received numerous awards, including the First National “Jaén” Prize in 1968 and the Golden Shield of Baeza in 1977. His work is represented in various Spanish institutions and public collections.
