A self-taught painter, writer, and fisherman, Joan Sala Lloberas felt a deep attraction to drawing. During the Civil War, he attended Joan Orihuel’s School of Arts and Crafts and was also a student of Joan Llaverias. He balanced painting with his professional life as a fishing boat captain and his work as president of the Fishermen’s Guild, and he devoted himself to immortalizing the landscape and daily life of his native Lloret, where he spent his entire life. He held solo exhibitions in 1965 and 1976 in Lloret, and in 2001 he participated in an exhibition held in the cloister of the Arxiu Històric de Sant Josep in Girona.
