A painter born in Barcelona, Francesc Casanellas studied drawing and painting at the La Llotja School in that city, where he was taught by Jordi Pagans Monsalvatge. He later studied engraving and intaglio printing with Edmond Rigal, lithography with Walter Donhen, and intaglio printing with Ole Larsen. He made his debut in Barcelona in 1972 at Expoart, and three years later held a solo exhibition at the Sala Rovira in the same city, where he exhibited his work on several subsequent occasions. Since then, he has held solo exhibitions in various Catalan cities, as well as at the Pleyades Gallery in New York (2003). His work is included in the collections of the Municipal Museum of Cadaqués and the town halls of Urús and Das.
