"Mediterranean", 1997.
Oil on canvas.

Measurements: 175 x 210 cm.
Italian painter living in Valencia. Iacobelli's work shows a concern for the problems of form and substance, for which he uses a meticulous and personal oil technique. He also formulates the relationship between painting and the decorative arts. His images reflect his cosmopolitanism and his cultural background, Italian, Australian and Spanish. Iacobelli's work emphasises the geometric character of the first vision. He emigrated to Australia as a teenager, where he has exhibited in major galleries and institutions in Adelaide, Queensland, Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney. His paintings are in important collections such as those of the Australian National Gallery, Canberra; Art Gallery of South Australia, Museum of Contemporary Art, Brisbane; South Australian Museum, City of Hamilton Art Gallery, Victoria; Phillip Morris Collection, Bassat Ogilvy & Mathe in Barcelona; Collection of the Diputación de Cádiz, and ARTIUM in Vitoria, Álava. His works can be found, among others, in the collections of the Australian National Gallery, Canberra, and the Phillip Morris Collection, USA.
