BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
GONZALO SICRE MAQUEDA, (Cadiz, 1957).
"Coventry Street", 2007.
Acrylic on canvas.
Signed in the lower left corner. Signed, dated and titled on the back.
Measurements: 114 x 146 cm.
Artist based in Cartagena, Gonzalo Sicre develops a figurative painting that could be placed within the neo-metaphysics, in the line of Charris, Joel Mestre and Dis Berlin. Sicre abandons narrative and anecdote and delves into the relationship between painting and photography, as well as the creation of melancholic spaces with a lyrical atmosphere, clearly influenced by the work of Edward Hopper. Throughout his career he has held several exhibitions of his work, especially the one held at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid in 2001. Sicre's works are currently held in the MNCARS in Madrid, the ARTIUM in Vitoria, the IVAM in Valencia, the Instituto Cervantes, the Diputación de Cádiz, the Bancaixa collection and the Coca-Cola España and Unión Fenosa Foundations, among many other collections.
