The series "Grand Prix. The Tully Archive" is a pictorial tribute to the Formula 1 driver cameraman John Tully, whom Marban knew personally, who was a close friend of legendary figures such as Ayrton Senna, Enzo Ferrari, James Hunt and Emerson Fittipaldi.
Pol Marbán was born in Menorca in an artistic environment influenced by his maternal grandfather, a painter and sculptor. From a young age he shows interest in creation and attends the Bachelor of Arts at the EAM (School of Art of Menorca), where he is trained in painting, photography and design, obtaining his first recognitions and commissions.
His curiosity for urban art, present since adolescence, becomes a constant influence in his work. He later studied Fine Arts at the Miguel Hernández University in Altea, specializing in painting, engraving and sculpture under the influence of masters of the Valencian school. A year of exchange at the University of Barcelona broadened his vision towards more conceptual tendencies.
At the end of his studies he returns to Menorca determined to dedicate himself fully to art. After years of effort, he consolidates as one of the emerging figures of the island scene, promoting self-managed projects such as Can Ruina, Omni, Oximoron or i12, and organizing urban art festivals such as MIAU Fanzara, VANG! or Llagosta Fest, along with internationally renowned artists.
Currently, he runs Ática, his exhibition space in the port of Mahón, which functions as a workshop, gallery and projection platform for local artists, consolidating his commitment to creation and the artistic community.
Throughout his career, Marbán has developed a painting focused on the beauty of decadence and urban landscapes, influenced by street art and his experience in cities such as Barcelona, Lisbon, Madrid and London. With a grant from the Reynold's Foundation, he consolidated his professional and technical career, exploring an increasingly meticulous and emotional work.
During the pandemic, his work adopted a more introspective, refined and detailed tone, leading to a period of artistic maturity. In recent years, he founded Ática, a hybrid space between gallery, workshop and artist residency located in the port of Mahón. Defined as "the gallery without a gallery owner", Ática has become a point of reference for local and international artists, combining production, exhibition and collaboration.
In his recent work, Marbán has developed a method based on the creation of imaginary worlds narrated through text and image. This approach gave rise to the Journey and Dystopia series, where he contrasts the disappearance of human beings against their absolute dominion over a lifeless planet, and later Step Beyond, a colorful utopia that fuses New York with tropical landscapes.
He is currently working on the project Grand Prix: the Tully Archive, a pictorial series dedicated to the aesthetics of motor racing from the 1960s to the 1990s, inspired by the personal archive of British cameraman John Tully. Through this collection, Marbán seeks to capture the dynamism, technological aesthetics and spirit of an era, paying homage to a fascinating and almost forgotten character.
His work combines technical rigor, visual narrative and contemporary sensibility, reflecting a constant evolution between personal introspection and aesthetic exploration of the modern world.
