"Vergel" is a work of great gestural intensity, built from an exuberant plot of greens and blues crossed by red accents that bring rhythm and tension. The surface, dense and vibrant, evokes an organic landscape in constant transformation, where the pictorial matter and the stroke become pure energy. Garriga transfers to the support an almost physical impulse, close to abstract expressionism, creating an enveloping and sensory atmosphere.
Lluís Garriga Felip was trained in Barcelona academies from a very young age, winning prizes in drawing and painting. He has exhibited since the 1970s in cultural spaces in Catalonia and Barcelona, with outstanding shows at Galeria Marquez (Barcelona, 2016), and participated in the international fair Art Vancouver (Canada, 2017). His work, influenced by Abstract Expressionism and artists such as Pollock, Tàpies or De Kooning, focuses on the strength of matter and gesturality as the main language.
