ELEAZAR (Siles, Jaén, 1954).
"Alphabet", 1992.
Oil on canvas.

Measurements: 80 x 80 cm; 82 x 82 cm (frame).
Eleazar began his studies of Fine Arts at the University of Seville in 1978 and later moved to Barcelona, where he graduated in the specialty of Image at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in 1982. In his early years he developed an abstract painting based on all-over compositions, grouped under the concept of "Palimpsest", in which the letter and the word acquired a symbolic and structural role within his plastic language. After a trip to sub-Saharan Africa and India, his work experienced a turn towards figuration. Influenced by art brut and urban graffiti, he began a stage of formal purification characterized by schematic figures and flat surfaces.
His work has been shown in numerous exhibitions in Spain and in different European countries, and is part of public and private collections in Europe, the United States, Australia, Japan and Canada. In parallel he maintains a literary activity linked to his artistic practice, writing texts and prologues for his catalogs. In 2013 he published his first novel, La Promesa (El Gordo, la Prima y el Flash Crash), in which he addresses the political and economic situation of contemporary Spain with a satirical tone.
