DESCRIPTION

SERGI PERAGÓN PAREDES (Barcelona, 1973).
“Equilibri d'un món.” 2026.
Oil on canvas.

Measurements: 80 x 60 cm.

The composition depicts a dreamlike and symbolic universe, populated by hybrid figures with organic, mechanical, and anthropomorphic appearances, set in an open space dominated by intense shades of blue, green, ochre, and pink. The scene is structured around a visual balance, in which the various characters seem to sustain, inhabit, or create tension within an imaginary world in flux.

Peragón’s artistic language is characterized by a marked formal freedom, akin to surrealist imagination and poetic automatism. The figures, with sinuous contours and fantastical anatomies, seem to emerge from an inner dimension in which the vegetal, the animal, the technological, and the human merge into a single visual repertoire. This coexistence of impossible forms imbues the work with a strong symbolic charge, open to interpretations linked to balance, the fragility of the environment, and the relationship between the individual, nature, and artifice.

A painter, printmaker, and poet, Sergi Peragón earned a diploma in jewelry design, metal engraving, and gemstone setting from the Official Workshop School of the Catalan Federation of Jewelers and Goldsmiths (1993). The following year, he held his first exhibition in Barcelona, and since then he has regularly exhibited in various galleries and art centers not only in Spain but also in Italy. He even went on to open his own art gallery in 2009. Among his most recent exhibitions, those held in 2011 at the Municipal Museum of Albacete and at the Alba Gallery in Ferrara (Italy) are particularly noteworthy. Much of his work is held by a wide range of collectors, as well as by institutions such as the Jordi Rodríguez-Amat Foundation.
