DESCRIPTION
ADOLFO MATUTE ASENSIO (Rincón de Soto, La Rioja).
“Where Forms Come From.”
Embossed on paper.
Unsigned.
Measurements: 77 x 77 cm; 82 x 82 x 4 cm (frame).
The work is characteristic of Matute’s approach to white surfaces, where relief and the play of light replace color as the primary artistic elements. Spirals, broken lines, and geometric shapes are arranged here through minimal intervention on the paper, creating a highly subtle play of shadows.
Adolfo Matute Asensio is an artist from La Rioja who is also involved in art education. His work has been exhibited, among other venues, at the Rodríguez-Acosta Foundation and the Caja de Ahorros de Barcelona Gallery; in 1992, he won the competition to design the logo for the Pamplona Planetarium.
