Inspired by Luis Buñuel’s film *Belle de Jour* (1967), this work reinterprets the conflict between desire, repression, and identity through a style reminiscent of Pop Art and symbolic abstraction. The composition features a female face divided into two halves that reflect the protagonist’s psychological duality.
The left half, dominated by warm tones and presided over by the sun, symbolizes desire and the liberation of repressed impulses. In contrast, the right half, shrouded in dark tones and accompanied by the moon and stars, evokes the protagonist’s loneliness, guilt, and emotional limitations. A blue tear accentuates this inner tension.
The balance between curved lines, geometric shapes, and chromatic hallmarks reinforces the composition’s expressiveness. The work is part of the artist’s “Perceptual Narrativism,” which transforms cinematic and literary references into symbolic images, exploring in this case the complexity of female identity and its contradictions.
