“Gone with the Wind POP 1939” reinterprets the cinematic classic through the artist’s visual language and his distinctive style, Perceptual Narrativism, which transforms literary and cultural references into abstract compositions of a symbolic nature. The work combines color, dynamism, and expressiveness in a composition with a strong pop art influence.
The main couple, depicted on the same plane, evokes the emotional intensity and conflicts of the original story through a palette of blues, violets, and warm chromatic hallmarks. The white flowers, inspired by wind-swept cotton fields, lend lightness to the composition, while the multicolored leaves, all oriented in the same direction, create an enveloping sense of movement.
The geometric background, articulated through vivid shades of orange, yellow, red, and blue, reinforces the pop aesthetic and accentuates the dynamism of the whole. The work thus establishes a dialogue between figuration and abstraction, reinterpreting a cinematic icon from a contemporary perspective.
José Huellas Mirabal is a Spanish painter with Latin American roots. Trained at the School of Fine Arts in Valencia, he has developed a practice centered on abstraction, combining acrylic painting, collage, oil painting, printmaking, and digital media. For more than fifteen years, he has explored his own visual language based on color, geometry, and the symbolic construction of the image. He has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Alicante, Valencia, Barcelona, Caracas, Mexico City, Puebla, and São Paulo, and his works are part of private collections in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, and various Latin American countries.
