Enameled and chiseled silver. Rosewood core.
Presents punch with Mercury's head.
The key is partially broken.
Signed.
Measurements: 5 x 16 x 12,5 cm.
Box entirely made of silver, enameled and chiseled, with prismatic structure and hinged top lid. In the exterior it presents a chiseled and enameled decoration with floral motives of historicist style in the secondary zones. The lid of the piece stands out especially, with a relief featuring Cupid and Psyche.
Louis Oscar Roty studied at the School of Fine Arts. Between the years 1864 and 1889 he won several awards, including a second class medal in 1882 and a first class medal at the 1885 Salon, as well as the Grand Prix at the Universal Exhibition of 1889.In 1888 he was appointed professor and later president of the Academy of Fine Arts. Throughout his career he pushed the limits of medallistics, bringing a frivolous touch to his designs.
