Important Napoleon III period coffee set consisting of samovar, milk jug, teapot, coffee pot, sugar bowl, filter and tray. It is a classicist style decoration, which combines simple decorative elements. The samovar is the largest piece, and has an oval belly, with a domed lid and upper handle. The other pieces follow a very similar design, with the same type of belly and spout, and identical decoration.
Founded in 1690, Odiot gained notoriety during the reign of Louis XV with Jean Baptiste Gaspard Odiot, recognized as one of the best goldsmiths of his time. He later became one of the most prestigious goldsmiths of the 18th century, with the title of royal purveyor, thanks to a unique know-how in the creation of exceptional pieces and cutlery in precious metals.
