Rectangular shaped tray with a very decorative openwork gallery and four legs with classic style scrolls.
It consists of two lateral containers, the inkwell and the sandbox (used to dry the ink before the blotting paper existed). The central, taller element is a hand bell to call for service. The design of the tray with its openwork gallery (grille) and the cylindrical shapes of the inkwells suggests a transitional style between Neoclassicism and the Elizabethan style. It is a sober but elegant design, where the cleanness of the smooth silver surfaces stands out, contrasting with the detailed work of the railing and the legs.
