This tray is inscribed in the context of Barcelona silverware at the end of the 19th century, a period marked by the consolidation of specialized urban workshops and by the renewal of the decorative repertoire under the influence of modernism and late historicism. Barcelona then became a leading center for the production of silver objects destined both for bourgeois domestic use and for social representation.
From an aesthetic point of view, the tray clearly responds to the language of Art Nouveau, recognizable in the predominance of undulating lines, organic rhythms and a decoration conceived as a continuous whole.
