Throughout the 20th century, Spanish silverware underwent an interesting transition between artisan tradition and adaptation to the new times. In its first decades, the workshops maintained historical styles and techniques inherited from previous centuries, especially visible in religious pieces, cutlery and ornamental objects. With the passage of time, silverware was able to renew itself without losing its identity, incorporating influences of art deco and modern design, moving towards more functional and domestic forms. Despite the advance of industrialization and the reduction of artisan workshops, silver continued to be a symbol of prestige and good taste.
