DESCRIPTION
Hachero-candlestick tabletop baroque, 18th century.
Silver.
With hallmarks on the base.
Total weight: 2000 gr.
Measurements: 53 x 19 x 19 cm.
Baroque axe holder made of embossed and chiseled silver, holding on the top a support for liturgical candle. It is a piece of gold work that stands out for its imposing verticality and the profusion of ornamental elements typical of the late baroque and rococo aesthetics. The design is articulated through bulbous knots and gadrooned sections that emphasize the verticality of the piece, while the ornamentation of rockeries and vegetal reliefs on its base testifies to the virtuosity of the goldsmithery of the time. The whole piece is raised on a tripod with claw feet. Topped by a wide chiseled bowl for the collection of wax, the set combines liturgical functionality with a scenographic aesthetic, where the play of light on the silver metal highlights the richness of its curved and counter-curved forms.
