Of rectangular format, the pieces stand out for their balanced structure and slightly raised edges, designed for a practical use in the service. The ornamentation is concentrated on the frame, where a repetitive geometric or pearlized motif appears, with discreet accents in the corners that provide visual rhythm without overloading the whole. The central surface, smooth and wide, underlines the utilitarian vocation of the trays. Stylistically, these works are in a line close to the late neoclassical taste.
Spanish silver in the 20th century constitutes an interesting chapter of transition between the artisan tradition inherited from previous centuries and the new aesthetic and industrial currents of modernity. At the beginning of the century, the production of silverware was still strongly influenced by historical styles such as neoclassicism and eclecticism. The workshops maintained traditional techniques and produced pieces mainly for domestic (trays, tea sets, cutlery) and religious (monstrances, chalices) use. Cities such as Cordoba, Madrid and Seville continued to be important centers of production.
