Formally, the trays present a wavy profile with trimmed edges and a rich ornamentation in relief, where vegetable motifs and scrolls of historicist inspiration predominate. This type of decoration is reminiscent of the eclectic taste of the period, with Rococo influences reinterpreted under a more restrained sensibility.
Spanish silver in the 20th century is an interesting chapter of transition between the artisan tradition inherited from previous centuries and the new aesthetic and industrial currents of modernity. At the beginning of the century, the production of silverware was still strongly influenced by historical styles such as neoclassicism and eclecticism. The workshops maintained traditional techniques and produced pieces mainly for domestic (trays, tea sets, cutlery) and religious (monstrances, chalices) use. Cities such as Cordoba, Madrid and Seville continued to be important centers of production.
