DESCRIPTION
Set of seven trays; Spain, early 20th century.
Silver.
Measurements: 23 x 5 x 1 cm.
Weight: 424 g.
This set of seven silver trays, made in Spain in the early twentieth century, is part of the tradition of decorative silverware that combines functionality and aesthetic refinement. From the stylistic point of view, the set responds to a historicist sensibility, with clear references to baroque and rococo models. The richly worked borders display motifs of scrolls, flowers and cartouches that frame more sober or softly decorated surfaces, achieving a balance between ornamentation and compositional clarity. The technical quality is evident in the careful work of the chiseling and the precision of the reliefs, as well as in the treatment of the surface, where polished and shaded areas alternate.
