The Tibaldi Da Vinci Code is a limited edition fountain pen that unites Renaissance art, contemporary literature and Italian craftsmanship excellence. Created in 2006 by Tibaldi, in collaboration with Sony Pictures, this piece pays homage to both the figure of Leonardo da Vinci and the cultural phenomenon of Dan Brown's novel The Da Vinci Code.
From its conception, the pen was intended as a symbolic object charged with mystery and beauty. Its design is inspired by the iconography and key elements of the book and film: cryptic symbols, divine proportions, and masterpieces of architecture and art.
The body is made of sterling silver and carefully engraved with details such as the Vitruvian Man, the Eiffel Tower, Saint Sulpice Cathedral, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Parthenon. It also incorporates hidden symbols - such as the fleur-de-lis, the number phi (?) and a five-pointed star - that refer directly to the symbolic universe of the book.
These engravings not only decorate the pen: they are part of a coded message. In a nod to the novel's "cryptex", deciphering them leads to a hidden word, a detail that turns this pen into an interactive and conceptual work.
Its operation is as refined as its aesthetics. The Tibaldi Da Vinci Code employs a patented piston charging system designed to mimic the sensation of winding a mechanical watch. This connection to watchmaking precision reinforces its link to time, human ingenuity and Renaissance heritage.
The partially rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib offers smooth, fluid and perfectly balanced writing. It is available in medium and thick thicknesses, and is engraved with the official logo of The Da Vinci Code, adding a seal of authenticity to the piece.
