The Pelikan 1000 Years of Austria is a limited edition fountain pen launched in 1996, with a production limited to 1,000 numbered units. This piece celebrates the millennium of Austria, commemorating the first documented mention of the name "Österreich" in the year 996.
The design of the pen was commissioned to Austrian architect Herr Professor Gustav Peichl, who fused tradition with modernity in this masterpiece. The barrel and cap are crafted in 925 sterling silver with a guilloché engraving, coated with a layer of translucent red enamel that evokes the majesty of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The cap ring and clip are sterling silver plated, complementing the elegant and timeless design.
