With the Writers Edition, produced every year worldwide since 1992 in a strictly limited series, Montblanc pays tribute to the greatest icons of literature. The Writers Edition William Shakespeare is only available in a strictly limited edition worldwide guaranteed by Montblanc, like all limited editions. A good 450 years have passed since the birth of the great playwright and poet, for which the dedication of the Hamburg maison is due. The serial number engraved on the cap demonstrates the uniqueness of each piece. The fountain pen version of this edition will be limited to 8,700 pieces. The black and white colors are inspired by the different flags displayed in theaters according to the genres represented (white: comedy, black: tragedy). The body of the writing instrument, with its fine engraving, represents a quill feather and the clip ring recalls the gold earring Shakespeare used to wear. The central gold-plated ring is embossed with seven symbols from his most famous plays: the rose with the dagger for Romeo and Juliet, the skull for Hamlet, two chess pieces for King Lear, a coat of arms for Henry V, the crown for Machbeth, a swirling cloud for The Tempest and finally the C-shaped laurel wreath for Julius Caesar. The last detail to note is the octagonal capital, inspired by the famous Globe theater with the circular roof top. In the center of the courtyard is the inevitable emblem of Mont Blanc. The hand-crafted engraving of the 18-carat 750 gold nib pays homage to the Globe theater by depicting the multi-story stage. A special series of red velvet inks was also produced for this special edition.
